IMMEDIATELY AFTER
In the unfortunate event of a loved one passing away at home or a non-healthcare setting, the first step is to reach out to emergency personnel. If your loved one has been receiving medical attention for a condition terminal or high-risk condition, inform the emergency personnel and keep the contact details of their doctors readily available. For those under hospice care, please notify the hospice regarding the loss. It is crucial to communicate the chosen funeral home’s name and contact number to the emergency personnel or hospice provider.
If your loved one passes away within a healthcare facility, simply provide the funeral home’s contact information. The facility will take the responsibility of initiating the necessary notifications to the appropriate authorities on your behalf.
Should you find yourself unsure of the appropriate course of action, dial 911 for immediate guidance and assistance.
NOW THAT THEY’RE IN SAFE HANDS
During this challenging time, it is important to inform close friends and relatives of your loved one’s passing. You can reach out to them through phone calls, emails, and by publishing an obituary that includes service details. Our funeral home can assist you in posting the obituary on our website, allowing extended family and friends to leave messages and condolences for your family. If desired, you can provide our staff with a written obituary and a photo, and they will handle its inclusion on the website.
It is crucial to consider your loved one’s funeral wishes and your family’s spiritual and emotional needs. Our arrangement counselors are ready to meet with you and guide you through the planning process, helping you understand the options that best suit your loved one’s needs. Some decisions to consider:
- Burial or cremation
- Selecting the appropriate casket or urn
- Deciding on the final resting place, whether it be a grave or mausoleum for burial, or scattering for cremation
- Determining the type of services, such as a viewing, service, graveside memorial, etc.
- Considering any religious services involving clergy or spiritual leaders
Remember, this is just a starting point, and you don’t need to have all the answers right away. We are here to make this process as smooth and meaningful as possible. Please feel free to contact us at 951-677-1250 with any questions or for further information about your funeral service options.
Our staff will use this information to help you create a personalized, meaningful service to celebrate your loved one. You can share your funeral preferences and ideas, stories about your loved one, their passions, and any other insights into your loved one’s life.
